President Museven Has Donated shs 413 Million to the “Mwaanyi Terimba programme”.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has said he is pleased with the way the Kingdom of Buganda has lifted people’s lives out of poverty, encouraging them to grow bananas, livestock and revive cooperatives.
The message was delivered by the Presidential Finance Officer Jane Barekye, at the opening of the Royal Agriculture, Livestock and Cooperatives Exhibition at Kasana Luweero Stadium in Bulemeezi.
President Museveni has supported the Mwaanyi Terimba initiative and donated shs 413 million to help get people to plant bananas.
The check was handed over to the Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga.
Opening the exhibition in Bulemeezi, the Katikkiro urged the youth to strengthen their knives to grow bananas, while urging men to support women in growing bananas.
The Chief Minister also advised the Lemeezi people to stop making excuses for being devastated by the 30-year-old wars, but to fight and work.
The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Cooperatives and Markets, Owek Haji Hamis Kakomo, said the exhibition has further helped the people of Buganda in all the provinces to learn about ,including Cooperative Services.
Bulemeez Ssaza chief Kangaawo, Prince Ronald Mulondo, has urged the people of Buganda to know the secret of bringing Buganda to the top, which is to work hard so that everyone has something to earn.
The MPs from Bulemeezi, led by Luweero MP Brenda Nabukenya, pledged to support Kangaawo in spreading the gospel of land protection.
Luweero district chairperson Erastus Kibirango praised the unity of the Kabaka’s people in development , and urged land owners not to cut plots.
The exhibition will conclude on Sunday 16 June,2024 and is attended by farmers, ranchers, primary and secondary school students,agricultural and livestock institutions,and economists
