Bishop Ssekamanya Urges Parental Support for Stable Marriages.
Bishop Emeritus of Lugazi, Dr. Mathias Ssekamanya, has urged parents to actively support their children as they embark on the journey of marriage. Addressing the pressing issue, Dr. Ssekamanya emphasized that the institution of marriage is increasingly fragile, largely due to a lack of parental guidance and counseling before marriage.
Speaking at an event where he confirmed over 100 children into Christianity at Esteem Junior School in Biira Ssumbwe, Wakiso District, the retired bishop highlighted the vital role parents play in ensuring the stability of marriages. He observed that many families today regard religious marriage as a symbol of prestige rather than understanding and implementing the necessary precautions to prevent marital collapse.
Dr. Ssekamanya’s message resonated deeply with attendees, underscoring the need for parents to engage in meaningful counseling and support for their children. He stressed that without this foundational support, marriages are likely to face significant challenges, jeopardizing the very fabric of family life.
In his closing remarks, the bishop urged parents to take an active role in preparing their children for the responsibilities and commitments of marriage. By doing so, they can help build stronger, more resilient families that can withstand the pressures of modern life.
