The census has been postponed until 25 May,2024.
The Uganda Bureau of Statistics, (UBOS), has extended the census dates until 25 May 2024, to enable the census workers to complete the fields they have not yet reached.
The census started on 10 May,2024 and was scheduled to last for 10 days till today 19 May,2
However, it was found that many areas have not been reached by enumerators, and some villages were not installed with enumerators, while the installation was initially a problem, because some enumerators were not used to using them on some days.
In a statement issued by UBOS President, Dr.Chris Ndatira Mukiza, the census has been extended until May 25,
Dr James Muwonge, UBOS official and responsible for the census in Buganda, told CBS they hoped most of the sites would be reached today as the last date, but that the extended period would not be paid for by the additional fees in this arrangement.
Dr. A.S. Muwonge meanwhile explained that the staff who have already completed the census in the areas assigned to them and the number set for them, the extension of days, does not affect them as they have successfully completed their mission.
The Census has Been Postponed Until 25 May,2024.
