Introduction of Holy Soda
Pastor Aloysius Niyonzima Bugingo, leader of Canaan Land Church in Uganda, has launched a unique product known as “Holy Soda.” Priced at UGX 50,000 per bottle, this drink is promoted as a divine elixir.
According to Pastor Bugingo, anyone who drinks the Holy Soda is promised heavenly blessings, prosperity in business, and a guarantee of space in heaven.
Claims and Promises
The pastor’s claims surrounding the soda have attracted maximum attention.
He emphasized that those who sip on this holy beverage will see their business profits triple and experience increased blessings in their lives.
“This is not just an ordinary drink; it is imbued with the power to transform lives,” Pastor Bugingo declared during a church service at Canan Land.
Bugingo’s Social and Controversial Past
Bugingo has been a notable figure in both religious and social circles over the past 3-5 years.
Earlier this year, he made headlines when he survived an alleged attack by armed shooters.
The incident, which resulted in the death of his driver and bodyguard Richard, raised many questions among Ugandans.
The Shooting Incident
Bugingo recounted the event, stating, “I was shot at five times. I saw my driver Richard being shot to death, but he died protecting me.”
According to the pastor, he managed to save himself by hiding under the steering wheel during the shooting.
His account, however, left some Ugandans skeptical, especially after it was revealed that the deceased, initially described as a church elder and close friend, was later identified as an SFC (Special Forces Command) security operative.
Questions Arise
The revelation that Richard was a trained presidential guard raised questions about why a pastor would need such protection.
This has fueled further public speculation and debates over Pastor Bugingo’s ties and influence.
Political Involvement and Rivalries
Pastor Bugingo has been vocal about his views on Ugandan politics. He has openly criticized the National Unity Platform (NUP) and its patron, Robert Kyagulanyi, commonly known as Bobi Wine.
Recently, he campaigned for President Yoweri Museveni’s 2026 re-election during a sermon at Canaan Land, stating, “I am confident that if we support President Museveni in 2026, he will assist us in constructing the Pentagon church we have been saving for.”
Unfulfilled Promises
Despite years of fundraising efforts through his media network, Salt Media, Pastor Bugingo has yet to fulfill his long-standing promise of constructing the “Pentagon church,” which he claimed would be the best church in Uganda.
This has drawn criticism and skepticism from church members and the wider public who have contributed funds over the years without seeing any tangible results.
Pastor Aloysius Bugingo continues to be a polarizing figure in Uganda, blending religious influence with social and political commentary.
The introduction of the Holy Soda adds to his list of headline-making activities, sparking both interest and skepticism among Ugandans. Only time will tell how the public will respond to these latest claims and promises.
