Parliament Rejects Motion to Expel Dr. Abed Bwanika and Joyce Bagala from Government Promises Committee.

What You need to know.

Parliament has rejected a motion to expel Dr.Abed.Bwanika and Joyce Bagala – from the parliamentary committee on government promises.

Parliament has rejected the National Unity Platform NUP’s plan to change the leadership of the Parliamentary Promises Monitoring Committee, in which it has dropped Dr Abed Bwanika and Joyce Bagala from the committee.

John Baptist Nambeshe, the opposition MP, read out the changes.

The NUP has elected Kalungu west MP Joseph Gonzaga Ssewungu as the chairman and Wakiso district MP Betty Ethel Naluyimba as the deputy chairman.

However, several MPs put MP Johnbaptist Nambeshe on notice to explain the reasons for the changes, and he failed to convince them, where the changes ended up being rejected.

There have been reliance on examples when similar changes have been dismissed.

It is worth mentioning that when the NUP wanted to remove MP Ojara Mapenduzi from the chairmanship of the Taxpayer Expenditure Monitoring Committee in government parliament he also removed them.

MP Dr Abed Bwanika is currently no longer in line with the leadership of the National Unity Platform due to the party’s working methods, which MP Dr Abed Bwanika says are full of dictatorship, corruption and illegal running of the party

The commission has a 2.5-year term of office, and Dr Abed Bwanika and Joyce Bagala were elected by the NUP five months ago.

Joseph Gonzaga Ssewungu was the vice-chairperson of the committee who was deputy to Betty Nambooze Bakireke MP for the past 2 and a half years.
