Tooro Delegates Urge Besigye to Form New Political Party
Delegates from the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) in the Tooro Sub-region have expressed their support for the creation of a new political party. This move comes as Dr. Kizza Besigye, a founding member of FDC, emphasizes the need for united efforts among various political parties to challenge the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) government.
During his consultations with FDC members across seven districts in the Tooro Sub-region, Dr. Besigye highlighted the urgent need for collective action to dismantle what he described as a corrupt regime. He emphasized that achieving meaningful political change would require collaboration and solidarity among different opposition factions.
Silver Tweyongye, the chairperson of FDC district chairpersons, voiced the sentiments of many party members by advocating for the establishment of a new political party. According to Tweyongye, the current FDC leadership is no longer effectively representing the interests of the majority of its supporters. This has led to growing dissatisfaction and a call for a new direction.
The pivotal meeting, held in Fort Portal City, saw delegates from the Tooro Sub-region endorse the proposal for a new party, reflecting a significant shift in the region’s political landscape. The delegates believe that a fresh political entity could better address the aspirations and concerns of the people.
As the political climate in Uganda continues to evolve, the call for a new party by Tooro delegates represents a noteworthy development in the ongoing efforts to challenge the NRM’s dominance. The proposed formation of a new party underscores the desire for a more responsive and dynamic political alternative in the country. However
