Gomba Ssaza Unveils New Faces for 2024 Masaza Cup Tournament.

The official unveiling of the Gomba Ssaza team took place last Sunday, marked by a narrow friendly win over Busujju. Gomba secured a victory with a 1-0 scoreline. The unveiling ceremony, held at Kabulasoke Core PTC, the home grounds for the Gomba team, attracted a large crowd of supporters. The team, finalists in the 2023 tournament, has named their mission for this year “Gomba for Sixth Cup.”

Gomba has brought in several new players for the 2024 tournament, including:

Mutebi Aron Stewart
Opio Ovamus David
Jeremia Rothomio Jabira (Striker)
Saka Fahim (Striker)
Ssimbwa Michael Makko
Jinta Michael
Felix Wafula, a student from Kasawo SS
Kusiima Kerry Fabian
Muluya Abbas

The team’s head coach for this season is former Buwekula coach Frank Mulindwa. The technical committee consists of:

Barigye Robert, Chairperson of the team
Rev. Ssekasiku Wilberforce, Vice Chairman
Luzinda Swaibu
Bolera Eddy, Secretary
Lubega Johnson, Team Manager
Mbatidde Resty Namugema, Publicity Officer

Last season, Gomba reached the finals but lost to Bulemezi by a goal to nil at Wankulukuku, or Muteesa II Stadium. Under the arms of coach Felix Ssekabuuza at that time.

Gomba will host Kyaggwe in their opening fixture on June 30, 2024, at Kabulasoke Core PTC. The team and its supporters are eagerly looking forward to a successful season as they aim for their sixth cup.
