Startimes Uganda Premier League Update: KCCA Reigns Unbeaten, Vipers SC on the Rise
The Startimes Uganda Premier League 2024-25 season is well underway, with Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) FC firmly holding the top spot after an impressive start.
With a commanding 5-0 home victory over Maroons and a sole loss to NEC, KCCA remains unbeaten in its first seven games.
Their defense has been formidable, conceding only a few goals, while their goalkeeper, Mugoloofa Mutwalib, boasts an impressive six clean sheets — the most in the league so far.
Vipers SC Soar Under New Leadership
Sitting second on the table, Vipers SC have made a remarkable turnaround.
Despite a slow start to the season, the Kitende-based club appointed former Wakiso Giants coach, John Ayala Luyinda, to replace the outgoing Nikola Kovazovic.
Since Luyinda’s arrival, Vipers SC has been in top form, winning all four matches under his management, which has energized the squad and revived their title aspirations.
Kitara FC’s Struggles Continue
Kitara FC remains mired in the relegation zone despite recent changes in their coaching staff.
New head coach Wasswa Bbosa replaced Ssenyondo, but his tenure started with a 2-0 defeat to URA, marking the club’s third consecutive loss and fifth of the season.
Kitara will need to regroup quickly to avoid sinking further as they strive for their first win under Bbosa.
Mid-Table Tensions: SC Villa, BUL, and URA Tied
SC Villa, BUL, and URA FC are locked in a tie with 11 points each, creating a competitive mid-table scramble.
Police FC follows closely in seventh place with 10 points. Meanwhile, Mbarara City, Express FC, and UPDF have each secured nine points, adding more intensity to the race for a top-half finish.
Bright Stars at the Bottom
Bright Stars FC currently seat at the bottom of the table.
Despite managing three draws, they have yet to secure a win, suffering four losses in their seven games.
Kitara and Mbale Heroes join Bright Stars in the relegation zone, making the lower ranks increasingly competitive as each team battles to climb out of danger.
