Uganda Cranes Qualify for AFCON 2025 in Morocco

Breaking:Uganda Cranes have officially secured their place in the AFCON 2025 tournament, set to take place in Morocco.

Uganda currently leads Group K with 10 points, followed by South Africa with 8 points.

The qualification comes as a result of a dramatic match between South Sudan and Congo Brazzaville that ended in favor of Uganda.

Key Match Between South Sudan and Congo Brazzaville

Uganda’s qualification was sealed after South Sudan’s 3-2 victory over Congo Brazzaville.

The match, held on home ground for South Sudan, saw significant action and multiple lead changes

First Half Highlights, Congo Brazzaville took the lead in the 26th minute when Christopher Ibayi scored.

However, South Sudan responded quickly, equalizing in the 31st minute through Ebon Malish Azibon Wajo.

The visitors regained their lead when Christopher Ibayi scored again, making it 2-1.

Late before the half time whistle,, Ebon Malish secured his brace by scoring in the 45+3 minute, bringing the game level at 2-2 as the first half concluded.

Turning Point in the Second Half

The second half continued with intense play from both sides. However, In the 78th minute, Congo faced a setback as Bryan Passi was shown a red card, reducing the team to 10 players.

This critical moment shifted momentum in favor of the hosts.

South Sudan’s Decisive Goal

With just six minutes left to play, South Sudan’s Data Elly scored a remarkable goal in the 84th minute, securing a 3-2 victory. This win granted South Sudan their first three points in Group K.

Group K Standings and Implications

The loss leaves Congo Brazzaville with only four points, making it impossible for them to catch up to either Uganda or South Africa.

Thus, after the result result, Uganda and South Africa have both secured qualification for AFCON 2025.

Upcoming Match: Uganda vs. South Africa

The final match in Group K for Uganda will be against South Africa, set to take place at the Mandela National Stadium. With both teams already qualified, the match will serve as an opportunity to determine the final standings in the group.
