Uganda in Group A for AFCON U17 CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers

The Uganda Cubs Under-17 football team has been placed in Group A for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) U17 CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers.

The tournament, scheduled to take place from December 14 to 28, 2024, will be hosted at St Mary’s Kitende and Nakivubo Stadiums in Uganda.

Uganda Cubs in Group A

Uganda will face Tanzania and Kenya in Group A, promising exciting matches between these East African football powerhouses.

Group B features Sudan, Somalia, and South Sudan.

The draw was conducted at St Mary’s Kitende, marking the second time the voting process has been held.

This was necessary following the elimination of Burundi and Ethiopia in earlier stages.

CECAFA to Announce Match Schedule

The Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) is expected to release the updated schedule for the tournament soon.

Football fans across the region eagerly await the kick-off of this important event, which serves as a pathway to the AFCON U17 finals.

Uganda Cubs Prepare for the Tournament

Under the guidance of former Kitara Fc Coach Brian Ssenyondo, the Uganda Cubs have begun preparations for the qualifiers.
A provisional squad of 37 players has been called up to train and compete for a spot on the final team.

Two Spots for CECAFA Region at AFCON U17 Finals

The 2024 CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers are critical for teams in the region, as only two teams will advance to the AFCON U17 finals in 2025.
