Buganda Unveils History Library and Museum to Boost Tourism

Buganda has taken a significant step to enhance its tourism sector by opening a Library of Royal History and Administration, along with a Center for Arts. These new sites were launched at the Buganda Heritage and Tourism Board office located at the Butikkiro in Mengo.
Celebrating Cultural Heritage

The inauguration ceremony coincides with the 31st anniversary of the accession of the Lion King Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II to the throne. This event marks an important milestone in preserving and promoting Buganda’s rich cultural heritage.

As part of the celebration, the Owner’s Prayer and Graduation Ceremony will be held on July 31, 2024, at the Cathedral. This event is expected to attract many dignitaries and highlight the importance of the newly launched sites.
Promoting Tourism through Innovation

During the ceremony, the Chief Minister of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, emphasized the importance of innovation in the tourism industry. He expressed confidence that with adequate preparation, Buganda has the potential to generate substantial revenue from tourism. He urged stakeholders to focus on high innovation to attract more tourists to the region.
Enhancing the Dignity of Buganda

The Katikkiro called on the Ministry of Culture, Traditional Affairs, Tourism, and Security to actively support the Royal Ekkaddiyizo and prioritize its dignified presentation. This initiative aims to uphold the cultural pride of Buganda and attract more visitors.
Achievements in Cultural Promotion

Owek Dr. Anthony Wamala, the Minister of Culture, Traditional Affairs, Tourism, and Security, praised the inauguration as a remarkable achievement. He encouraged ministers in his department to work closely together to promote Buganda through tourism effectively. Dr. Wamala emphasized the need for unity and dedication to achieving this goal.
