Namboole, Uganda – A tragic accident occurred early this morning, November 1, 2024, at the Bweyogerere Bus Station near Namboole on the Kampala-Jinja highway. Around 7 a.m., a taxi, registered as UAX 036F, collided with a small car, the details of which are still unconfirmed.
The impact led to the small sizeable catching fire, resulting into loss of three lives.
Despite early morning rainfall, which briefly soaked the area, flames quickly engulfed the mid-sized vehicle following the crash.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with passersby and other motorists struggling to contain the fire. Unfortunately, their efforts were hindered as the vehicle was severely damaged upon impact and the flames spread rapidly.
Local authorities and emergency response teams arrived on the scene shortly after the accident was reported.
The police confirmed the fatalities, while efforts to identify the victims and notify their families are underway.
Investigations are ongoing, with authorities working to determine the cause of the collision and the subsequent fire. Police are also examining whether road conditions contributed to the accident, given the morning’s wet weather.
