2023/23 UPL AWARDS.

The anticipation for the 2023/24 StarTimes Uganda Premier League awards ceremony is building as the league prepares to honor its standout performers on June 29 at Kampala Sheraton Hotel. This announcement came during a launch event held at Kati Kati Restaurant in Kampala, attended by key figures including CEO Bernard Bainamani, league manager Paul Kabaikaramu, and Board Member Humphrey Mandu.

According to UPL, the process leading to these prestigious awards commenced on June 13 and will culminate on June 28, the day before the grand ceremony. The awards span across 14 categories, each recognizing excellence in various aspects of football, from Player of the Year to Best XI of the Season.

The nomination process began with public involvement from June 13 to June 20, where fans had the opportunity to nominate their favorites for categories such as Young Player of the Season and Defender of the Season. Following public nominations, a panel of experts comprising coaches, media personalities, captains, and former international players will review the top five nominees in each category.

These expert evaluations will then narrow down the field to the final three contenders per category. From June 21, the public will have another chance to participate by voting online for their preferred candidates among the finalists. The results of this online poll, which accounts for 40% of the final decision, will be combined with the assessments of the Expert Panel, which holds the remaining 60% voting power.

The culmination of this meticulous process will be on June 28 when the Expert Panel will finalize their selections, determining the ultimate winners for each category. The awards ceremony the following day promises to be a celebration of talent and dedication within the Ugandan football community.

Among the coveted awards are Player of the Season, Coach of the Season, and Goal of the Season, each representing the pinnacle of achievement in their respective fields. The awards also acknowledge contributions such as Top Goal Scorer, Most Assists, and Fair Play Team of the Season, highlighting the diverse skills and sportsmanship displayed throughout the league.

The Platinum Award, bestowed by the UPL Board, will honor individuals or entities who have made exceptional contributions to the league’s success and development.

As the countdown to June 29 continues, all eyes are on the UPL awards as football enthusiasts eagerly await to see who will be crowned the champions in each category, marking their place in the history of Ugandan football.
