If Your National ID Expires, Does it Mean your Citizenship is Also Expired?

If Iam a Ugandan and I posses a national Identity Card, that indicates that Iam a Uganda, If you tell me that the ID is now expired. Does it mean by that time I am nolonger a Ugandan or? Hon. Ssemujju Nganda.

“I have an ID that is expiring in 2029. That’s why I asked the government to tell me, Are all the IDs going to expire and why are they expiring?

Can my citizenship expire?
But, secondly, the same government is even as I speak to day, they are still issuing new IDs.

I have two sons who have just gotten their IDs from Buganda Road, just last month they got their IDs which means there IDs should expire in 2034.

But they are going to embark on an exercise that is going to render all these IDs useless.
So we are asking them, first of all do you have time, second, why are you doing it?

We are thinking that the only country that wants to keep renewing IDs. The other days they issued us with the passports and then said we are now going to dig it once these ones have expired and we had spent money almost half a million to go.

So really it’s total confusion. And I am not sure that at their speed, cause last time they issued these IDs took two years,.

Whether at there speed, they will be able to issue IDs that will be used for the next general elections,” .

Kira municipality in the 10th Parliament Member of Parliament Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda lamented.
