The Uganda Bureau of Statistics – UBOS has released the results of the 2011 census.

The figures are from the 9th to 26th May,2024 census.

The number of Ugandans has increased from 34.6 million in 2014 to 45.9 million.

11.3 million people increased in 10 years , up 3%

UBOS said of the 45.9 million people, there are 78,000 refugees living in camps.

Statistics show that the number of women is higher than that of Men.

There are 23 million women making up 51% and 22 million men making up 49%.

Children between one day and 17 years of age in Uganda account for 51%.

Youth aged 18-20 account for 23% while children and youth make up 74%.

The elderly over 60 years of age are 5.% , The number of employed citizens aged 14-64 is 55.6%.

UBOS in its census found nt Uganda has 10.84 million Households.
In 2012 it had 7.24 million households.

In 2002 it had 5 million households.

UBOS meanwhile said it reached 11 million households, but some found their owners at work , while others had already left Uganda and gone across the seas.

The club results show that Kampala is the most popular city of all time, with 62,000 people at least setting foot in Kampala.

The report shows that the majority of the population is in the Buganda regions, at 13 million.

Busoga has a population of 4.37 million.

Westile Nile is third with 3.90 million.

Speaking at the presentation of the census results at the Serena Hotel in Kampala, President Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuharwa said knowing the accurate statistics in Uganda would help them to help the population they need to prepare for, and lashed out at corruption.

UBOS President Dr. Chris Ndatira Mukiza said the census was not easy at all ,because the equipment first died , murders committed against the department staff , people chasing them and some even killed dogs counting , with many areas of difficulty due to the conflict.

The census is the 10th edition, but the final results will be released in December 2024, the first of three reports expected to be released.
