Workers Invade Parliamentary entry Avenue.
What you need to know.
“Workers living in Kampala are again protesting over salary arrears – police deployed at KCCA headquarters”.
The kampala capital city workers have invaded the official road ahead the Parliamentary building accusing the KCCA officials of refusing to pay them for the past six months yet they are working in poor conditions.
They went a head and ruined the road by dumping wastages which prompted the police to teargass them and preventing them from heading to the parliament.
In the very chaos, the road mayor Elias Lukwago was seen coming in his vehicle but the protestants refused to pave a way for him to pass.
He addressed them and assured that matters are soon to be addressed by process and thus joined them in their protesting.
Police officers were deployed in large numbers at the headquarters to prevent violence.
The workers came with knives, knives and papers with the words “We want money”.
It is to be recalled that earlier this year 2024 the salary issues of these workers escalated to Parliament, and ordered KCCA to pay the workers without any excuse but so far the workers say they have not been paid.
